I’m Jodie, welcome to my studio.

As a photographer myself, I’m always looking for inspirational shoot locations. I’m a nature lover and unashamed interiors addict with six renovations to my name. So I suppose it’s no surprise that it soon became a passion of mine to create a photo studio of my own. Somewhere filled with natural light and texture and authenticity. Somewhere sustainably crafted. Somewhere I could share the beauty of a European countryside with my fellow Aussie photographers.

My vision for Barcola Studio is to create spaces in the ‘goldilocks zone’. Imagine the ease of a studio with the character of a real home location. The studio began life as a limousine garage, before being stripped back to reveal its hidden beauty. Reclaimed timber adorns every room. Fixtures and french doors were sourced from old factories and salvage yards. And every antique store in the southern Gold Coast was hunted for treasure.

I adore the natural beauty of limewash paint, which you’ll see on the walls throughout our studio. It’s a sustainable, all natural material that has been used for hundreds of years in a small Italian town that has particular significance for my family. That town is called Barcola, the inspiration for our name.

Beyond the studio and its lush garden courtyard, we have more ideas in store. Watch this space!

Come,
let’s create together
